Center Leadership – Roy Oswald

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – Roy M. Oswald, M.Div, B.Ed.

Roy Oswald is one of the founding EQ-HR Center Board members, and has been the Executive Director since the start-up of the Center in 2008.  He is an ordained Lutheran Pastor.

Roy served as a senior consultant for the Alban Institute for 31 years and is the author of 17 books, including his most recent titles, “The Emotional Intelligence of Jesus” (2015) and “Polarities in Congregational Life (December, 2009).  Other titles include:  “Discerning Your Congregations Future,” “Personality Type and Religious Leadership,” “Transformational Rituals,” “Making Your Church More Inviting,” “Running Through the Thistles.”

Roy began his ordained ministry at St Mark’s Lutheran Church, Kingston, Ontario.  He then served as an assistant to the Bishop in Central Pennsylvania.  Later he was Director of Training for the Metropolitan Ecumenical Training Center in Washington, DC.  Following that he began his ministry as Research Director for the Alban Institute.

In addition to being the Executive Director, he is a workshop trainer and dean and a member of the Leadership Team.  He works hand and in hand with the Board of Directors and attends all Board meetings.
